To develop and produce BMW plug-in electric cars, BMW I, a sub-brand of BMW, was created in 2011.
Did you know that an all-electric BMW 1602e drove ahead of endurance athletes at the Munich Summer Olympics in 1972 to film them and provide them with vital water? Due to its lack of emissions, silent operation, and inability to interfere with rivals’ efforts to attain their best results, it was the ideal companion at the time. We have refined this competency and our knowledge in electric mobility after nearly 50 years via the ongoing development of the BMW drive technology and the BMW I sub-brand. You’ll experience a new level of driving pleasure when you go to one of our all-electric BMW iX, BMW iX3, BMW i3, or BMW i3s automobiles. Ultimately, nothing compares to the sense of almost silently gliding through city or rural traffic, the immediate response of the electric engine, and the incredible acceleration from a stop. Additionally, there is no local smog or exhaust pollutants wherever to be found. With us, discover the world of BMW electric cars.
There are several advantages to driving an electric vehicle.
As a result, BMW approaches this new era of transportation in the same way it does any other; engineering, creativity, and aesthetics meld together flawlessly to provide joy on every trip.

BMW iX
BMW says that the two engines in the iX xDrive50 produce a combined 516 horsepower and 564
pound-feet of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds. Its 111.5 kWh battery provides a range between 305 and 324 miles. Overall, it has the largest battery capacity of any BMW EV.

A four-zone automatic temperature control system incorporates a nanofiber filter to eliminate allergens and bacteria.
BMW‘s panoramic glass top is yet another first. It employs Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal technology to give electrochromic shade in place of a roof liner.
The iX is fitted with driver assistance and active safety systems like the front automatic emergency braking, rear and side cross-traffic warning, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beams. Among the available extras are adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.

BMW i4
BMW says that the rear-wheel-drive, single-motor i4 eDrive40 can go up to 300 miles on a single charge. The dual-motor, all-wheel-drive M50 has the same 81.5 kWh battery, but its range is rated at 245 miles. The 200-kilowatt charging capacity of the i4 can add 88 to 108 miles in 10 minutes. Using the onboard Level 2 (up to 11 kW) charger, the battery of the i4 can be recharged from 0% to 100% in less than eight hours.
The BMW i4 electric car is essential to BMW‘s expanding EV portfolio. It blends the styling of the 4-series Grand Coupe with a battery-powered powertrain and well-optimized driving characteristics. The least powerful of the three vehicles is the single-motor rear-drive eDrive40 with 335 horsepower.
The EPA estimates its range to be 300 miles. It reduces to 245 miles with the 536-horsepower, all-wheel-drive i4 M50.
That is a tremendous compliment since the latter drives like a more comfortable M3. The M50 can reach 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds quicker than an M3 Competition, and it can accelerate from 50 to 70 mph in 2.0 seconds, which is 0.7 seconds faster than the BMW. Without acceleration runs, the i4 is an excellent daily driver. Although it lacks the steering feel we appreciate in other M cars, it is an exciting and refined sedan with a comfortable ride and enjoyable sports-sedan handling.
BMW i4 M50
The i4 is the first electric car from BMW‘s famed M Performance division to go on sale. It includes the incredible acceleration of the i4 M50 from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds. The i4 M50 with all-wheel drive produces a ridiculous 536 horsepower and 586 lb-ft of torque—Specifications Dial-up to automated launch control. Or, if the accelerator is pushed at any point, the BMW will launch from the dock like a spaceship.
This EV is accomplished by activating the Sport Boost mode, which, for a maximum of 10 seconds, extracts every ounce of power from the two electric motors. A 5-passenger, 4-door, all-wheel-drive hatchback with front and rear-mounted engines and all-wheel drive are the 2022 BMW i4 M50.
BMW iX3
The BMW iX3 Premier Edition comes with Vernessa leather, metallic paint, and 20-inch wheels. “Aerodynamic black alloy wheels, automatic tailgate, panoramic glass sunroof, sun protection glass, automatic air conditioning, adaptive LED headlights, parking assist, driving assist pro, and heated front seats.”
BMW I-specific kidney grille and 20-inch wheels separate the BMW I range from the conventional combustion engine lineup on the iX3. The iX3 is equipped with the same fifth-generation BMW electric drive technology as the BMW iX. With a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 6.8 seconds and a power output of 268 horsepower, the instantaneous torque is instantly evident from a stop and contributes to an impressive acceleration rate.
This new electric propulsion system improves the vehicle’s efficiency while reducing its size and weight, resulting in increased inside space.
The technology of the BMW iX3 enables iPhone users to lock and unlock their new vehicle without a key. The digital key, which is software installed on the iPhone, uses NFC technology to enable locking and unlocking the car by just holding the iPhone near the door handle.

BOOST RANGE
Every BMW car has a unique range. In significant ways, real-world conditions impact the performance of electric vehicles. You may be able to increase the predicted capacity of your car, though, if you know how to make the most of its range-extending features.
Advantage
An electric vehicle emits zero tailpipe emissions in full-electric mode, significantly reducing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, even when accounting for energy production.
- Cleaner automobiles offer cleaner air and improved health.
- They are favorable to the environment since they do not release toxins and Reduce maintenance owing to the electric motor’s efficiency.
- Electric vehicles are easy to operate since they have a single gear, eliminating the need for constant changes. Also, electric cars will not stall.
- Like automated vehicles, electric vehicles only have two pedals: the brake and the accelerator. However, with an electric vehicle, the accelerator may perform most of the work due to its regenerative braking system—a method of recovering energy as the car decelerates without the use of the brakes.
- Superior Performance
Disadvantage
- Locating a Charging Station: EV charging stations are more scarce and spread out than gasoline stations.
- The vehicle’s driving range is fully charged.
- Expenses at the outset of the acquisition are more extraordinary.
- Batteries are expensive to replace.
- Even with a quick charger, which can take up to 30 minutes to charge an EV to 80%, it takes much longer to charge an electric vehicle than it takes to fill up a gas or diesel car.

Questions and answers about the BMW electric cars Lineup
Why does the spectrum vary?
The range of an electric vehicle depends on many factors, such as how the driver drives, the route, the vehicle’s equipment, the weather, and the load.
What effect does my driving style have On the range of my electric vehicle?
Like a vehicle with a traditional combustion engine, how an electric automobile is driven impacts its range. An anticipatory, easygoing, and steady driving style maximizes your content in most situations. For instance, if you lower your speed on the highway, you may significantly extend your range. During recovery, once you remove your foot from the accelerator pedal, kinetic energy is transformed into electrical power and delivered back into the battery, increasing your range.
What is the difference between a Plug-in hybrid and an electric vehicle?
The primary distinction lies in its energy system. A battery electric vehicle, often known as an electric vehicle or battery electric vehicle (EV or BEV), is powered only by an electric motor. Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) combine an electric motor with a conventional gasoline engine.
